Eloy considers new park on Main Street, a ‘gateway’ into the city

Eloy’s Downtown Advisory Commission has compiled plans for a new park on the northwest corner of Main and Frontier streets adjacent to the Dust Bowl Theater.

Tentatively called Triangle Park due to the shape of the plot of land it’s on, the plans brought before the city council Monday would include a mural stretching across the old theater, some shade and vegetation and a potential information post for a historic walking tour of the town.

“It creates a gateway into Main Street and welcomes you into the city,” said Jon Vlaming, city community development director. “It’s also an opportunity for an iconic image, something that makes people wanna stop and take a picture.”
