Community activist says it’s ‘high time that Arizonans repeal and replace Jeff Flake’ and vows not to take a dime from corporate PACs or wealthy donors
GLOBE, Ariz. — Jim Moss, who is a community activist in Globe, as well as an entrepreneur and former educator, is announcing his candidacy today for the 2018 Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. To kick-off his campaign, the native Arizonan will participate tomorrow in the Democratic Candidate Forum in Payson, Arizona.
“I am offering the citizens of Arizona the opportunity to elect a U.S. Senator that is 100-percent powered by the people,” Moss says. “I will not accept one dime from corporate PACs or from wealthy donors representing a corporate special interest agenda. Not one dime!”
“Arizona needs a bold, progressive voice in the United States Senate, and a leader who will always put country over party,” he adds.
For the last 14 years, Moss has built and operated a successful business in Globe. A well-known community activist, Moss successfully led the fight to make Globe a ‘no-private-prison’ town. He previously dedicated 15 years as an educator to the Arizona public school system.
Inspired by the leadership of former President Barack Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders, Moss has decided it is time to get off the sidelines and enter the political arena.
“We must change the face of Congress in 2018,” Moss says. “It is high time that Arizonans repeal and replace Jeff Flake − not to merely ‘take a seat at the table.’ Oh no, we proud Progressives must fight for all Arizonans, so that together, we can build a brand-new table!”
“I intend to fight every day for justice that will protect our people and our planet,” he adds. “I will represent the majority of Arizonans whose voice and values have been shut out of the U.S. Senate for decades.”
The Democratic Candidate Forum will take place this Saturday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. The event is coordinated by the Democrats of Rim Country and AZ Blue 2020.
