Phoenix International Raceway, Arizona’s major motorsports venue, is progressing in the raceway’s $178 million modernization project with the first concrete pour for the foundation of the newly-constructed Allison Grandstand extension.

The project broke ground in February and is expected to finish in fall 2018. It is the first upgrade to the raceway since it opened more than 50 years ago, said raceway President Bryan R. Sperber.

“We also took advantage of that opportunity to create some new, unique and innovative elements for this project,” he said. “To create what will be a very modern and leading facility.”
