A federal agency won’t be investigating a Pinal congressional candidate regarding use of county property for advertising, records show.

Kevin Cavanaugh, a Republican candidate for the Congressional District 1 seat, received a letter from the Office of Special Counsel saying the agency declined to investigate Hatch Act violations against him while he was an employee of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

“OSC will not be conducting an investigation into these allegations and will make no conclusion as to their merits,” the letter says.
