MARICOPA — Global Water Resources Inc. representatives say an expansion of its Maricopa operations is long overdue, but they are trying to finish the project with a minimal impact on residents.
The expansion will include one new water tank, two new treatment trains and three new water clarifiers. In terms of aesthetics, it will also include securing some of the perimeter of the facility with a brick wall, planting trees along the perimeter that has a chain-link fence and borders neighborhoods, and adding a secondary fire access lane.
Jason Thuneman, vice president for the project management office, said this is an expansion that was needed for a long time. He said that up until this point, the company tried to limit major construction by upgrading equipment, but with the growing population in Maricopa, they had to take a bigger step.
