Judge: Diamondbacks must solve stadium dispute with Maricopa County

By Rebekah L. Sanders | The Republic

A years-long dispute between Maricopa County and the Arizona Diamondbacks over repairs and improvements to Chase Field could be over before the end of the year, according to a court ruling Thursday.

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ordered the local government and the team to negotiate through arbitration and to set the talks on a speedy schedule.

That means the two sides will avoid a lengthy and costly court trial.

The team in January filed a lawsuit to break its Chase Field lease, which goes through 2027, accusing the county of neglecting up to $187 million in stadium repairs.
