A look at the housing market one year after Trump election

By After the election, home builders, on the whole, were happy with Donald Trump entering the White House, anticipating big deregulation in their sector. But, as CNBC staffer Diana Olick reports, that has yet to happen, “and now builders are fighting the Trump administration over its proposed tax plan, which cuts popular deductions for homeownership.”

Home prices have continued to rise and supply has stayed low, making it difficult for first-time buyers to enter the market. Plus, existing home sales have dropped in recent month and single-family home construction still significantly lags demand.
