Widow demands Stump come clean about his name

The widow of former Congressman Bob Stump has called on a congressional candidate by the same name to “stop this charade” and publicly acknowledge he is not related to her family.

Eighth Congressional District special election candidate Bob Stump’s given name is Christopher Robert Stump.

As Nancy Stump noted in her statement Monday, he used the name Chris prior to his political career, including in his byline for the Weekly Standard and Wilson Quarterly in the late 1990s.

But he ran for state House as Bob Stump in 2002, the same year the elder Bob Stump retired from Congress.
