Edwards Hotel, Old Town Peoria

The forgotten Edwards Hotel in Old Town Peoria will have a second life as a vacation destination. Property owner Dan Halbert wants to turn the blighted building into a haunted hotel.

He said the hotel will reopen by the end of the year.

Halbert, president of Phoenix-based Matrix Real Estate Investor Network, bought the hotel last October after demolition loomed over the building for months, stirring worries among locals and preservationists of history lost.
