A real-estate developer has lawyered up to try to stop a car wash that has already secured building permits.

The city received hundreds of emails from people weighing in on the project approved by the city’s Design Review Committee in December.

“I have lived in this neighborhood 20 years now — no way does this community want nor need a three-story eyesore,” Tempe resident Elena Waller said in an email to the city.
