Phoenix will likely change how elections are conducted

What are the city’s options?

Following a two-hour city council discussion Wednesday, one thing became increasingly clear: Phoenix will almost certainly change the way it conducts its elections.

But how? That’s still anyone’s guess.

The council’s discussion quickly dissolved into a fight over voter turnout and voter access with threats of disenfranchising voters thrown in.

Currently, Phoenix elections are held in August of odd years with runoffs in November when necessary.
