Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton cautioned about climate change and trade wars and touted the city’s economic gains and innovation during his last State of the City Address today.
Stanton — a Democrat — is running for Congress and at some point will step down as Phoenix mayor.
Stanton said Phoenix is working on its heat island effect citing some significant climate change concerns.
“Last year was the hottest year on record for Phoenix,” Stanton said during his speech before the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.
Stanton said nine of the 10 hottest years on record for Phoenix have happened in the last 15 years.
