Peoria to consider Cowtown rezoning

Since 1974, a 78-acre plot of desert with a nod to the Old West served as a set for movie-making, a place to hold festivals and as an advance-training ground for long-range marksmanship.

On Tuesday, Peoria City Council will consider rezoning Cowtown so it’s clear what land uses are allowed on the property at the northwest corner of 104th Avenue and Old Carefree Highway, a one-time stagecoach route between Phoenix and Wickenburg. Cowtown annexed into the city in 1994.
