Florence ‘proactive’ on code complaints

The town of Florence’s approach to code enforcement isn’t merely “reactive,” or responding to complaints, Development Services Director Christopher A. Salas said at the first of a series of Building Safety Month presentations May 2 at Town Hall.

“We are not just reactive; we are proactive,” Salas said. “On a weekly basis I get calls from other staff members, from the fire chief, from the police chief, from the town manager, saying ‘Hey, you need to look at this property.’”

Town staff will take calls, but the town’s preferred method for such complaints is on a form available at Town Hall.
