No more same-old, same-old: Upper West Side group fights against chains, big boxes

The Valley of the Sun gets much flack for those same old chain restaurants, big box retailers and dreary strip malls.

And in Peoria, with swaths vacant of land on the verge of commercial development moving toward the northern border, one local group is hoping the city doesn’t fall prey to the same-old, same-old.

So the group is putting in the work to fight against it.

The Facebook page, Upper West Side PHX, is a grassroots community movement encouraging specialty shops and restaurants to locate to the Northwest Valley.
