Can golf be saved? Glendale residents rally to save ailing Glen Lakes course

There may soon be fewer places to tee off in the West Valley.

The Glendale City Council is considering selling or shutting down one of the city’s two publicly owned golf courses, Glen Lakes Golf Course, after the course has begun to cost the city hundreds of thousands in maintenance costs annually.

The council is split on what to do: Some say the city should invest in upgrades and maintenance to bring the rundown course up to par. Others say it’s time the city cut its losses and sells the land to a private developer.
