From pickleball to bikepaths: What’s in the Tempe budget for you

Tempe residents can expect to see more recreation options and improved roadways in the budget year that opens July 1.

The Tempe City Council on Thursday approved a $492 million operating budget and $191 million in capital expenditures.

Much of the capital spending is for infrastructure projects that might not be readily visible to most residents, such as automating water meters and irrigation.

Here’s a look at a few projects that should be more visible.
