Residents had an opportunity to hear from candidates for City Council on Thursday at a forum in Casa Grande.
Candidates were asked to give their opinions on three issues facing the city: growth and economic development, a municipal ambulance service and employee unions. The forum was sponsored by the Casa Grande Dispatch and PinalCentral.
Andy Estrada, who is seeking his first term, said he believes Casa Grande is primed to grow, saying the city needs first to look at ensuring proper infrastructure is in place so “when they come, we’re ready.” Regarding the city looking to run an ambulance service, Estrada said while he typically likes to outsource as much as he can to save costs, he said he’d need to further evaluate whether running an ambulance service was financially viable for the city before supporting or opposing it. And regarding employee unions, Estrada said simply: “Casa Grande doesn’t need it.”
