Grant would help with Casa Grande Lucid plant

The city of Casa Grande has been awarded a grant that potentially will help with the creation of a Lucid Motors plant, records show.

Records obtained from the city of Casa Grande show the city applied for an Arizona Commerce Authority Economic Strength Grant for the project and was approved for the $500,000 grant in May. The grant is to “assist in the construction of the southern entrance of the project site off Selma Highway,” according to an email by City Manager Larry Rains to Peter Hasenkamp, director of supply chain for Lucid.

The grant would assist with widening and paving part of Selma Highway “to provide this critical access for trucks transporting materials and products to and from the site.”
