A recently approved Phoenix housing development will fund the extension of the road that leads to Camelback Ranch about a mile north to Maryland Avenue in Glendale.

The 67-acre, 207-home development, north of Camelback Ranch-Glendale and just east of the Glendale-Phoenix border from the Glendale Municipal Airport originally drew opposition both from the Glendale-owned spring training facility and Glendale’s Aviation Advisory Commission.

Both concerns were satisfied by the developer, Mattamy Homes, and Camelback Ranch along with the city of Glendale issued statements of support for the project. The aviation commission changed its official stance from opposed to no preference. The agreement with Glendale and the developer includes a stipulation that residents aren’t allowed to complain about the noise from the airport.
