ur Twitter-fried collective attention span notwithstanding, the summer reading list is the rare school-days holdover that many of us actively work to keep in our lives. Of course, whatever deleterious effect social media may have on our ability to focus on the books on that list is balanced by the assist it provides in allowing us to brag about them. The voices pushing the political conversation forward today are no exception, whether it’s President Donald Trump’s populist virtue signaling or Mark Zuckerberg’s attempt to bolster his flagging wonkeness quotient.

In that vein, once more we’ve asked a group of leading lights to let us know what’s at the top of their summer reading list and what’s their guilty pleasure, going in the tote with the sunscreen and flip-flops. Pick, choose and slyly hide in the corner of your Instagram photos as you wish.
