The Southwest Valley’s most heavily contested local elections Tuesday came from two of the region’s smallest cities, Tolleson and Litchfield Park.

In Litchfield Park, Vice Mayor Paul Faith and Tom Rosztoczy were leading in early election returns, followed by Lisa Brainard Watson and Kerry Marie Giangobbe. The city has three open seats.

In Tolleson, early results point to a tight race for three council seats. Incumbent Juan Rodriguez led in early results followed by incumbents Linda Laborin and Clorinda Contreras Erives, then Adolfo Gámez and Tida Garcia.

The races could go to a runoff election in November if no three candidate secures the posts outright in the primary election.
