A Casa Grande Planning and Zoning commissioner has resigned after a dispute over lot sizes that arose earlier this month.
Mike Henderson resigned effective Tuesday.
At the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Sept. 6, commissioners approved amendments to two planned area developments, one known as Bella Vista, which currently is undeveloped, and a second at G Diamond Ranch, which has existing homes. Both changes would result in allowing a mix of multifamily and single-family housing.
Henderson said he supports the change toward the multifamily zoning, noting that as Casa Grande continues to grow, there will be an increased need for such developments. But it’s a change in the single-family lot width that remains a point of contention between city staff and Henderson.
