With Tucson’s student-housing market booming, complex sells for nearly $112M. As one industry analyst puts it, “All of the big investment players are circling Tucson.” That includes “New York-based Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust Inc.” which “paid $536,780 per unit to acquire The District on 5th, a 208-unit complex at 550 N. Cities cracking down on private-home rentals. While the 2016 “Airbnb” law “prohibits cities from regulating rentals, it does allow them to step in when it comes to safety, noise, parking and neighborhood nuisances.” However, many “cities and towns are still trying to catch up.” AZCentral reports on some of the “tweaks” these municipalities are making. http://bit.ly/2COd5Yo

Don & Charlie’s steakhouse to become new boutique hotel in Scottsdale.“City Council unanimously voted to rezone the land last week, allowing for a boutique hotel with approximately 181 rooms.” The new hotel, also called Don and Charlie’s, “will feature an updated version of the restaurant” — but it won’t be quite as big as it was. AZCentral. http://bit.ly/2Az4tTH

Mountain View Medical Center to get a facelift. “The current medical center [on the SEC of Tatum and Shea] was built more than 30 years ago, and the surrounding area has since seen extensive renovation. Energy delivery company chooses Cochise County expansion location.“Texas-based Kinder Morgan will construct the [$40 million] facility next to its existing Willcox Compressor Station, located on Arzberger Road.
