A plan to develop 46 lots near Green Valley Lake for a new subdivision received approval from Payson’s Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday night.

Developer Ryan Whelan, with Whelan Custom Homes, wants to divide the 17-acre parcel at the end of South Lake View Drive into roughly a third of an acre lots.

The preliminary plat calls for putting some of the smaller lots on the west side of the property, backing up to larger developed lots off Gold Nugget Lane.

Four residents on Gold Nugget Lane presented an alternative plat to the commission Tuesday night, which moves the smaller lots to the east side — well away from the existing homes.
