Winter is just in its infancy, but already it’s been long and dark for many of us in Arizona.
Not outside, of course, where citrus is changing color, rye grass is flourishing and temperatures flirt with 70 degrees more days than not.
But the sports landscape here is almost barren, especially so when it concerns professional teams.
The Diamondbacks traded the best homegrown player in fanchise history, Paul Goldschmidt. The Suns got off to a horrendous start. The Cardinals might have their worst team in 31 seasons in Arizona. And while the Coyotes have shown flashes of being decent, they continue to hover around .500.
Caring about teams also means leaving yourself open to pain and grief. It would be nice to know what, exactly, we did to deserve this?
