[OPINION] Lose your job for criticizing your legislator? Only in Arizona

Rep. Kelly Townsend crossed the line when she called HR on a citizen who said Townsend ‘favors child molesters’

Turns out anyone daring to criticize Republican state Rep. Kelly Townsend risks her contacting their employers, just as she did with critic Patrick Mannion.

AsThe Republic’s Ryan Randazzo reported, Mannion called her out on Facebook, saying she “favors child molesters” during a legislative fight over extending statutory limits for victims of childhood sexual assault.

Townsend and another lawmaker ultimately voted for the bill, but not before being caught on a hot mic plotting how to penalize Rep. Paul Boyer for refusing to back the Republican budget until his legislation was approved.
