What did you do yesterday? Erik Molina, Lennar VP of Land Acquisitions

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Erik Molina took our ‘What I Did Yesterday’ feature to heart documenting a recent busy day.

Molina is vice president of land acquisitions for Lennar. The Miami-based company is one of the largest homebuilders in the Arizona market and has also developed apartments.

Molina’s day includes juggling deal making, due diligence and meetings with finding a lunchtime restaurant that serves macaroni and cheese and allows for “toy car demolitions” and squeezing in watching “The Office”.

4:45am:  Ala.. SNOOZE!

4:55am: Alarm…SNOOZE!

5:05am : Alarm…I remember I’m doing the daily log with Rose Law Reporter today.  Better wake up and act productive.

5:10am: Off to the gym for a morning workout

7:30am: Weekly Acquisition and Entitlement meeting with our land team.  We discuss the status of properties we have in escrow and properties we are considering.

9am: Call with a land broker to catch up on pending LOIs and deals we have in escrow.  Also had a call with a developer to discuss market conditions.

9:30am: Reviewing materials for a new deal we are presenting to corporate for approval next week.

11am: Chris Clonts, our VP of Entitlements, and I go over a presentation we are making tomorrow for one of our preferred engineering firms.  To help both sides be more effective we are going to review the acquisition and due diligence process we go through.

Noon: My wife is nearby so I’m going to meet her for lunch.  She has our 2-year -old son with her so looks like it will be some place that serves mac and cheese and allows toy car demolition on the table (can’t wait!)

1pm: Meeting with consultants and a builder partner for a property we recently opened escrow on.

2:30 pm: Catching up on e-mails and reviewing a couple of agreements

3:30pm: Work on resolving a couple of issues on a community we are opening for sales this week

5pm: Review underwriting with the land acquisition team on a property we plan to submit an LOI for.

6pm: Head home for some family time before the kids go down

9pm: House is quiet, get back on the computer to catch up on a few last things… wait.. “The Office” is on TV.  I’ve only seen this episode 5 times.

9:30pm: Get back on the computer to catch up on a few last things before shutting down for the night
