Glendale looks at rezoning former Honeywell site

Glendale

Glendale is looking at a developer’s request to rezone an 8-acre, vacant property at Bell Road and 53rd Avenue.

The site was previously part of a former Honeywell campus.

The developer, 53rd LLC, wants the property at the southwest corner of 53rd and Bell to be rezoned from business park status into a broader ‘planned area development’.

That move would allow more commercial use and potentially a new apartment complex on the property.

Service First, a vehicle repair and service business, is considering part of the site for a location. Part of its plans include a 60-foot-tall flagpole, according to city documents.

Hay Real Property Investments LLC is listed as one of the corporate members of 53rd LLC, according to Arizona Corporation Commission records. Other corporate members of the LLC include David Hay, Dennis Conklin and the Rosemarie Conklin Trust.

The Glendale Planning Commission will consider the rezoning request at its meeting tomorrow.
