The Mesa City Council will vote later this month on plans for a new 111-room hotel at McDowell and Recker Roads.

A new Home2 Suites by Hilton is proposed for the 3.2-acre site next to Longbow Golf Course.

The land is vacant and was previously farmland.

The Mesa City Council will hear about the hotel plans at its September 9 meeting and is slated to voted on the plans September 23.

The council will consider site plans, zoning changes and a proposed 53-foot height for the hotel. Current zoning allows for a 40-foot tall building on the site.

The land is owned by Longbow Hotel Associates I LLC. That is an arm of Santa Barbara, California-based Somera Capital.
