New apartments proposed in south Scottsdale

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Plans for a new 282-unit apartment complex have been put forward for a car dealership site south of McDowell and Scottsdale roads.

The Scottsdale property is currently home to a Mark Kia car dealership.

Plans submitted with the city of Scottsdale call for 4 existing parcels to be combined and zoned for a four-story apartment building and 13,507 square feet of retail space.

Property records show Jomar Investment Company LLC owns the southern Scottsdale parcels which are located just south of McDowell Road at Scottsdale and Continental roads.

The request asks for a zoning amendment and changes to current development standards for the property.

Southern Scottsdale has seen a number of redevelopment and infill projects involving new apartments. Papago Plaza and the Entrada properties are both slated for redevelopment with apartments. There have been new apartments built at the ASU SkySong development as well as along Scottsdale Road headed north towards Thomas Road and Old Town.
