Scottsdale ranks as one of the best places in the U.S. to retire.

That is according to a new report by Wallet Hub.

Scottsdale ranks third nationally as a retirement spot, according to the financial research firm.

Scottsdale ranks well for quality of life factors such as recreation and the arts.

Only Orlando and Tampa rank higher on the list. Charleston, South Carolina and Denver round out the top five.

Scottsdale has long been an attractive land spot for ‘active adults’ and retirees. That has attracted housing development, especially to the north, aimed at affluent and often older buyers.

Among other Arizona cities, Tempe ranks 35th, Tucson 36th, Peoria 52nd and Gilbert 53rd, according to Wallet Hub.
