By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Private sector employers added 9,800 jobs in Arizona in September. That is more than double the average private-sector job gains for September the past ten years (4,300 jobs), according to new state jobs data released Thursday.

Business services added 3,600 of those new private-sector jobs while construction and finance added 1,800 and 1,700 respectively last month, according to state economists.

Overall, Arizona added 21,900 total jobs during the month including public sector positions. Arizona’s unemployment rate comes in at 4.5 percent with seasonal adjustments. The jobless rate in the Phoenix metro area is 3.8 percent without seasonal adjustments

While business services added a net of 3,600 jobs, the sector saw employment services gain 7,200 positions statewide while the professional and technical areas shed 3,200 positions.
