Queen Creek could expand ‘Agritainment’ zone for potential Queen Creek Olive Mill expansion

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Queen Creek Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and potentially take action at its October 9 meeting on rezoning 45.7 acres for a potential expansion of the Queen Creek Olive Mill.

Frantoio Hills LLC is asking the town to rezone land at Rittenhouse and Combs roads from a residential designation to the Queen Creek’s ‘agritainment’ zoning classification.

Queen Creek created to ‘agritainment’ zoning category to support farming while also allowing for other uses to that mesh agriculture with tourism and economic development.

The Olive Mill is a farming operation that is also home to a restaurant and marketplace. The venue also hosts special events including a Garlic Festival last weekend.

The town originally designated 242 acres for agritainment purposes.
