Phoenix ranks 18th and 12th nationally for how green its office building and apartment complexes are, according to new research from CBRE, Maastricht University and the University of Guelph.
The commercial real estate firm and universities ranked U.S. cities based on how much of their office space and apartment stock are ‘green’ certified with sustainability and energy efficiency offerings.
According to CBRE and the universities, 31.5 percent of Phoenix’s office space is green certified. That is up from 28.4 percent last year.
There are 9,580 green apartments in metro Phoenix making 3.3 percent of the institutional multifamily market, according to the research.
Chicago has the most green-certified office space with 81 percent.
Denver has the highest percentage of green apartments.
