Chandler to vote on new rules for scooters

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Chandler City Council is scheduled to vote today on new rules for electric scooters. The proposed Chandler ordinance would allow the popular scooters on sidewalks and bike lanes outside of the downtown area as well as on residential streets when bike lanes are not present.

The new rules also require the scooters have lights at night, restricts use while under the influence of alcohol and rules for private e-scooter companies to operate in the city.

Cities across Arizona and in other states have also been or are considering new rules for e-scooters and other mobility devices.
