Talk of making electric vehicles in Pinal County developed into construction of Lucid Motors’ plant, with plans of starting manufacturing in a year.
The plant is to employ 745 people at first and range up to 2,000 at build-out. The first concrete was poured in November.
The company is taking reservations for its $110,000 Lucid Air sedan for $1,000.
Meanwhile, planning and fundraising goes on for a plant on the south end of Coolidge to make Nikola Motor Company’s hydrogen-electric and electric trucks.
