Hospice of the Valley is making plans to build a dementia care and education campus in east Phoenix.

The project is expected to cost somewhere between $20 million and $25 million, but those numbers won’t be finalized for awhile, said Debora Britz, spokeswoman for the nonprofit hospice organization.

To be called Hospice of the Valley Dementia Care and Education Campus, the 140,974-square-foot facility will sit on 3.2 acres at 3811 N. 44th St., Phoenix, the former site of the Scottsdale Unified School District office.

Plans call for breaking ground in January, with a grand opening expected in early 2021.
