San Fransisco-based hospitality firm boasts new experience for consumers and financial benefit for multifamily housing developers.
Thousands of apartments have recently come online in metro Phoenix, with even more in the pipeline. A San Francisco-based company is leasing hundreds of them and renting them out by the night.
For the past 18 months, Sonder has slowly grown its Valley presence and is now in control of nearly 200 apartments in Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale that it rents out like hotel rooms.
Sonder operates on a different plane than Airbnb. While Airbnb created a marketplace for people who want to rent out spaces to connect with people who want to stay in those spaces, Sonder manages all the rooms. It is closer in operations to Marriott or Hilton hotels, the company’s head of communications, Mason Harrison, told the Business Journal.
