MARICOPA — A Central Arizona College professor has submitted his second alternative proposal for Interstate 11 for Arizona Department of Transportation’s review.
Sanjeev Ramchandra is concerned about the value of I-11 for local commuters, especially Maricopans whose only way to and from the Valley is on State Route 347.
The Interstate 11 highway project was designated as a proposed transportation route in 2015, and would span a total of 280 miles between Nogales and Wickenburg. There is no funding yet, but the I-11 website states that it is “a high-priority corridor eligible for federal funding.”
