When Surprise planning and zoning commissioners asked city staff last year why so many housing projects are presented to them without the requirement for a community pool, little did they know it would lead to an entire philosophical discussion about how the city wants to grow.
The talk about requiring homebuilders to include a community pool has given city leaders a chance to think about how it wants its residents to cool off from the heat each summer.
Many councilors have indicated community pools aren’t so important as long as there are other amenities to replace it, but they also agree more municipal pools are needed now.
