Chandler approves annexation for school, offices

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Chandler City Council has approved a land annexation and a rezoning request for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to develop a new La Paglia High School Seminary and professional office space on 1.7 acres at Gilbert and Ocotillo roads.

The school could house as many as 540 students, according to documents filed with the City of Chandler.

The 1.7 acres is currently on unincorporated county land and is near the site of a new proposed Chandler Unified School District high school.

The Chandler Council approved annexing the land and rezoning the parcel to allow for development of the church school.

The land is currently vacant and zoned for farming. The council approved changing that designation to Planned Area Development (PAD).

The church also wants to develop professional offices adjacent to the new school.

The office space is slated to total 6,336 square feet, according to design plans filed with the city.
