Short-term rentals have created concerns for Sun Cities officials for years, but the issue is not confined to the active retirement communities.
Some of the Sun Cities concerns include an increased number of children in the community, more noise as homes are rented out as “party houses” and more people under age 55 that could endanger the age overlay for the communities. The problems have become so numerous that Sun City Home Owners Association officials included limitations on rentals in the community when they moved forward with revisions to the covenants, conditions and restrictions.
While that effort was put on hold in early 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the issue of short-term rentals did not diminish.
