The city of Maricopa is seeing significant interest from homebuilders with more single family subdivisions projected for the Pinal County submarket.
“There’s really just been an explosion of new homes,” said Steven Hensley, advisory manager for real estate research firm Zonda.
Hensley said there are 20 active single family residential subdivisions in Maricopa with major builders such as D.R. Horton Homes, Richmond American Homes, Starlight Homes, Pulte Homes and Ashton Woods.
“All the big builders are getting in there,” Hensley said.
Pinal County is seeing job growth via the Nikola Motor Co. and Lucid Motors manufacturing plants.
Maricopa also offers less expensive housing prices than East Valley submarkets such as Chandler and Gilbert where new homes cost $500,000 or more.
Hensley said new homes in Maricopa range between $350,000 and $400,000. He said those prices and hopes of reasonable commute to parts of the East Valley are attractive to buyers and builders.
“I think there is going to be a steady flow of around 20 projects for the next 18 months or so,” Hensley said.
