Scottsdale’s short-term rental task force has identified a handful of ways to strengthen legal enforcement and tracking of vacation homes.
On June 1, the Scottsdale City Council voted unanimously to proceed with implementing the recommendations, bring back a draft ordinance for council approval as soon as possible and provide quarterly updates on progress.
Among the ideas presented includes creating a response team comprised of six police officers, one sergeant and a code inspector. The response team would be responsible for timely responses to nuisance gatherings and party calls.
Additionally, the police department is in the beginning stages of a new records management system, a city staff report shows, which “may also offer opportunities for better tracking of short-term rental, particularly repeat offenders.”
