Aldi looks into Surprise store

One of the 10 most wanted businesses by Surprise residents is considering a debut in the city, while a popular coffee chain is ready to plant a second drive-thru location.

According to city officials, Aldi has submitted a request to the city for a concept meeting that is scheduled for Sept. 16. The German-based grocer noted to Surprise an interest in the area of Cotton Lane and Waddell Road.

This meeting is not open to the public. Surprise Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic stated in an email that whether the city reaches out to recruit a business, or they come to Surprise, businesses often meet with Economic Development staff early in the process to evaluate the market or sites for viability.
