It may have a population today of over eleven thousand residents, but back in the early 1970s when a young developer by the name of Harold Christ found an area that would later be known as Gold Canyon, it was a remote and mostly deserted area.
In this video, Harold, who now owns and runs The Windmill Winery in Florence, recounts some fascinating stories about the origins of Gold Canyon and Gold Canyon Ranch, which he built, now known as Gold Canyon Golf Resort.
Gold Canyon residents will be asked to complete a survey in October, to aid development of a Community Plan in conjunction with Arizona State University and Gold Canyon Community, Inc. (GCCI).
