It’s the time of year when many people are weighing buying a new car or holding off, but consumer advocates warn including an extended warranty in that plan could be costly.
Extended warranties, also known as Vehicle Service Contracts (VSC), offer coverage for cars no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
“Deceptive sales tactics with extended warranties can subject warranty companies to liability under the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act (“CFA”) even with the fine print in contracts disclosing all the details. It is important to remember that CFA claims by consumers must be brought within one year; otherwise, those claims are lost forever. Consumers still should always read the fine print in any contract.”
