A huge development planned to bring a mix of rentals, retail shops and a hotel to downtown Gilbert is moving forward. But the project, which initially planed to start construction in 2020, still has a ways to go before it’s built.
The Town Council in January OK’d a zoning change needed for the project, dubbed Heritage North. The town Redevelopment Commission on Wednesday recommended town leaders approve conditional use permits, which allow the development to have elements that aren’t found elsewhere in downtown Gilbert, such as ground-floor residential units and a hotel.
