CASA GRANDE — As Casa Grande grows, both residents and city officials have offered hopes that the city’s downtown area could one day become a destination the likes of other city centers such as Chandler or Tempe.
At the planning and zoning meeting on Thursday, the commission rezoned several parcels southwest of the Union Pacific Railroad to B-3, Central Business, in anticipation of developments down the road. While some of those areas are empty lots, the city is hoping to find future use for two historic buildings: the old Casa Grande Hotel and Shonessy House.
